GG Group shapes the future of sustainable mobility together with Polestar 0 Project

After completing the strategic consolidation phase, in which several production sites and the company's elevator division were spun off, GG Group is now focusing on shaping the mobility of the future with special attention to resource efficiency and sustainability.

As a pioneer of energy and data transmission in automobiles, GG is supporting Polestar 0 Project in developing a truly climate-neutral vehicle by 2030.

The aim of Polestar 0 Project is to identify all greenhouse gas emissions from the extraction of raw materials to the delivery of the vehicle to the customer, as well as end-of-life disposal, and to eliminate them by 2030. The project aims to eradicate carbon emissions by manufacturing cars in new and more innovative ways. This goal requires collaboration across the entire development process and value chain, from suppliers to OEMs to recyclers. All 12 project members to date are industry leaders and have committed to actively contributing their expertise. Each partner will focus on specific materials, components and processes that play a role in car manufacturing, with the ambitious plan to decarbonizing the entire supply chain and manufacturing process.

"The economic and environmental challenges of our time are diverse, complex, and cut across supply chains and industries. I firmly believe that companies like GG Group can best meet this challenge through cooperation and partnership. Instead of acting in a merely competitive manner and pursuing individual interests in a race, we look forward to creating optimal and sustainable solutions for the future of all our mobility together with other market companions who are leaders in their fields," says Holger Fastabend CSO/CTO, GG Group.

Hans Pehrson, leader of the Polestar 0 Project, states: "A project of this ambition requires partners at the cutting-edge of their industries which are fully engaged in our bold vision. That’s why I’m looking forward to GG Group becoming a crucial part of our team as we find solutions for developing an entirely climate-neutral supply chain. GG Group’s expertise in sustainable cables and harnesses will be invaluable in our mission and will play an integral role in pioneering new and innovative technologies to achieve what has so far been impossible."

Lutz Tröger, Vice President Research & Innovation adds: "New things are created when you leave familiar paths. To realize the vision of 0 Project, we are not only breaking new ground technologically, but also in terms of collaboration. In an agile open innovation approach, we can optimally bring our expertise to unfold in order to achieve the project goal together with our partners."
